A formal valuation is usually required rather than reliance on an estate agents opinion of a sale price.  HMRC will rarely rely on an estate agent’s sales letter and normally insist on a valuation by a qualified surveyor.

Our valuations for taxation purposes are prepared in accordance with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Valuation Standards.
